The Kaduna state Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the sum of N1, 490:615, 05 as 2018 Hajj fare as approved by NAHCON.
The overseer of the board, Imam Dantsoho Okara announced the fare to journalists yesterday in Kaduna.
According to him, this year hajj fare is less than last year with N44, 889: 95.
The overseer said that, “ This year hajj fare were arrived at after a rigorous computation and effort toward reducing hajj fare.”
“ Already we have about 3000 pilgrims that deposited for the hajj seats. Among them we have those who deposited sum of 800-1 million naira. There are also those that paid up to 1.5 million naira which means the board will refund them overhead ,” he said.
He also said old timers intending pilgrims will be fined additional of 2000 Saudi Riyals.
He said the state was allocated over 6000 seats by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, for 2018 hajj exercise.
On when the pilgrims are expected to be airlifted for 2018 hajj he said “ what we have in our calendar is that NAHCON will commence airlifting intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia on 16- July 2018.”
He explained further that the state hajj board is working hard to ensure that 2018 hajj exercise is successful.
Also, yesterday, the Executive Director of Katsina state Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Muhammadu Abu Rimi announced N1,463,410.00 as fixed amount for the 2018 Hajj exercise for pilgrims from the state.
Announcing the Hajj fares, yesterday in Katsina, the Director General disclosed that from today(Thursday), the board would begin refunding pilgrims for the 2017 Hajj exercise for the services not rendered to them while in the Holy Land.
He noted that, so far 2225 intending pilgrims out of the 4930 seats allocated to the state have made their deposits, adding that the screening of the intending pilgrims as well as pregnancy screening of female pilgrims would soon commence.
According to him, the National Hajj Commission has fixed the deadline for the remittance of fares collected by the state to it on or before the end of Ramadan, advising the depositors and others who are yet to deposit, to pay from now till the end of Ramadan.
